Accident & Emergency Care

Trusted veterinary care when you need it most

Accident and emergency care at Pets First Vets

We know how worrying it is when a beloved pet has an accident or suddenly becomes unwell. During their time of need it is vital that they receive the very best of veterinary care, and quickly. Our extensive diagnostic and surgical facilities, together with our experienced team, mean that your pet will receive the most appropriate care in a timely manner.

We are here to provide emergency consultations between 8am and 7pm weekdays and 8am to 4pm Saturdays.

Outside of these times we have opted to team up with our colleagues at Vets Now who specialise in accident and emergency.

Their vets and nurses are highly trained individuals who have a particular passion for emergency and critical care. They share our ethos of doing the very best for pets, which is reflected in the compassionate and high standard of care that they provide.

Pets we admit as inpatients during the day will remain with us at our hospital throughout the night. They will be treated with the same care and diligence as during the day, with every medical, surgical and psychological need being met. On Saturdays inpatients will be transferred to Vets Now.

In order not to spread ourselves too thinly and thus maintain the high standards that have come to be expected of us, we feel it is only right to enlist the help of a dedicated out of hours emergency team. The vets and nurses at Vets Now are well equipped for emergency treatment and surgery, and provide continued monitoring to patients under their care throughout the night. With Vets Now, your pets really couldn’t be in better hands.

Where are Vets Now situated and how do we contact them?

For many of our clients the most convenient Vets Now team will be working out of Willett House Vets, just a few miles away from our hospital. It couldn’t be simpler to contact them; simply phone our usual number and you will automatically be transferred to the Vets Now triage team. Depending upon the situation you may be asked to make your way straight to the Vets Now surgery; alternatively, a vet or a nurse may phone you back to discuss your worries and your pet’s needs.

Pets seen by Vets Now will receive a thorough examination and treatment options will be discussed with you in full. You will be kept informed about fees at all times.

We work closely with Vets Now to ensure that you and your pet receive a smooth and joined-up service. Should you have to make use of their services, Vets Now will provide us with a comprehensive report of your pet’s condition, as well as the treatment that they received. This means that we can best plan any required aftercare.

We've partnered with Video Vets Now so you can speak to a vet from home or out and about – 7 days a week between 8am and 11pm.
