ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic

Did you know that Runnymede Hill Veterinary Hospital is now officially feline friendly?

For the second year running we have been here in Egham, we have been accredited gold status as a Cat Friendly Clinic as governed by ISFM (previously FAB Cats).
 
What does this mean? In short we have made it our priority to put feline feelings first in all aspects of our service. From the moment you enter our doors we endeavour to make the experience as enjoyable and comfortable as possible for your cat. For example, Cats Corner in the waiting room allows cats to be separate from our canine companions. Separate kenneling areas in the hospital provide an environment with reduced stress from noise, light and smell. All of our vets and nurses are trained in feline handling and behaviour, understanding their subtleties and specific needs.

The standard for accreditation is the same across the world so you can gain peace of mind knowing that Runnymede Veterinary Hospital has thought about your cat and are tailored to providing a high quality standard of feline care.

Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons’ seal of approval

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) accredits vets and practices that it genuinely believes offer the highest quality of care and support for pets and their owners.

The RCVS has powers to regulate, and if it grants accreditation to a practice this sends out a clear message to customers. It tells them that the practice is upholding the standards of the body, and that pet owners can be assured that the vets who work in the practice have appropriate qualifications, keep up-to-date with the latest information and techniques and are fit to practice.

In addition, the RCVS looks at the premises itself. If a practice has the right equipment and the right processes, and the available treatment is of the very best, the Practice Standards Scheme can accredit the building as a further sign of quality.

Any veterinary practice that volunteers for accreditation under the Practice Standards Scheme has a rigorous inspection every four years. The standards that are required to be met through the scheme are high, and include areas such as hygiene, the training the staff experience, and equipment and emergency cover the practice uses and delivers.

As it stands, about half of the UK has practices that are accredited under the scheme at different levels. The number is rising, but if you want to be sure that you have high quality care that the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons recognises as being of an excellent standard, look for the logo.

At Runnymede, we are proud to say that we were one of the very first practices to be granted hospital status by the RCVS. Like all of the hospitals in the scheme, we are regularly inspected and must meet strict standards to assure patients and owners that they are receiving the very best in veterinary care.

At Sunningdale, we are also accredited to the highest level we can be for a smaller, local practice.
